Stronger After Sabbatical - Senior NY Recruiter Returns
Vick Tandon - Head of US Business Development, Global Markets
After a year-long career break, well-known global Finance recruiter Vickram Tandon is back in the game, joining Tardis Group to head up Business Development in the United States.
He’s hit the ground running, searching for Portfolio Managers for Hedge Funds across various regions and asset classes, senior tech specialists and other executive level finance professionals for his suite of clients.
Vick had been working in recruitment for two decades before he took his sabbatical to reflect on life in the wake of tough personal circumstances.
‘We have a habit of putting too much pressure on ourselves and don’t realise that we also need to stop sometimes and recharge,’ he said.
‘Everything had to change. I cut out socialising and everything that went with it, took up meditation, did some therapy, looked at what I was eating and got my health back on track. I lost myself in the world of New York for a while and needed to focus on myself and life.
‘It’s given me clarity and an entirely new perspective to go about things in both my personal and professional life. When we’re constantly going about what we do day after day, we can tend to forget the core reason why we started in the first place.
‘The time out has changed my life… and now Vick 2.0 is here!.’
Vick has joined Tardis Group to boost the company’s NY presence, focusing on executive (VP Director-level and above) search.
‘What I bring to the table is a missing component for them and they have what I was missing,’ he said.
‘They already worked with Hedge Funds in the equities space, now I bring experience in fixed income and quantitative systematic funds.
‘With Tardis, I can operate globally. It’s a good place and I’m thoroughly enjoying working with the team – Tardis runs a tight group of people who tend to be very loyal.’
Vick says his time out reignited his passion for his career in recruitment.
‘I’ve had the time to retrospectively sit down and think of all the people that I’ve met along the way, who’ve helped shape who I am,’ he said.
‘What I do… it’s 100 per cent a relationships business where you have the ability to help people. The past 20 years has been a beautiful ride.’
