When I left I was pretty sure I was never coming back.
I was burnt out…
Disillusioned…
I vowed I would never to do it again.
Fast forward three years…
What began as a simple coffee, started a series of conversations.
Through those conversations, I began to see what could be.
I began to reimagine how I could bring all that I am; my talents, my passions, my skills and my experience to a world I knew so well.
How could I add value?
You see, I believe we are created to be creative.
That when we work, according to our talents, when we use our gifts to help create a better world, we tap into something so deep within us. We find meaning and purpose.
And that’s the beginning of our diversity practice.
You see it wasn’t part of the original job description.
It was borne from deep necessity. We must do something different in order to move the dial forward.
It was borne from an employer who was willing to see the possibilities and create something around who I am.
And I’m so excited to be doing what we are doing.
In a few short months, we have done some amazing things.
We have placed our first female CEO in an Institutional Bank, a little more on that story later. We have signed contracts with global financial services firms who are not satisfied with what is and have decided to do something different to activate momentum.
We’ve launched ReCapture programs aimed at bringing back women, just like me. Women who have left the world they knew so well to pursue other adventures. We are designing ReLaunch a new initiative to give senior women from across different industries the opportunity to bring their skills and talents and build on their career success.
And this is only the beginning.
The way I look at it is this. The cup is half full. Since the first International Women’s Day we have come so far. But, there is still so much that can be done.
A wise man once said “you can’t keep doing the same thing and expect a different result”
It’s time to take action.
It’s time to look at what can be done with what is in our hands.
Let’s create new opportunities, explore uncharted territories and new frontiers. When we do this, we begin to tap into the world’s only limitless resource, human potential.
It’s not enough to react. It’s time to create.
